PSA

Just so all y'all know, I'm almost sure that I will be staying in Boston and going to NEFFA rather than going to DC and the March for Women's Lives the weekend of April 25. I'm feeling cranky that they're both happening that weekend, as I'd dearly love to do both, but right now, I think my need for what I get from dance is greater than my energy for a big political rally these days, but... I could probably swing the other way. We'll see.

Anyway, if you're thinking about going to NEFFA and you want company or that we should just keep and eye out for each other, let me know :) And if you think you can talk me into the march, you can try that, too :)

I'm a bassist, and am just now getting into the traditional music scene around southeastern Vermont. Many people have sugggested that I go to NEFFA. I have some questions about it.

1. I'm 16. Am I old enough?
2. Where is it (someone told me it was outside Quincy Market in Boston)?
3. When is it?
4. Is it fun?

1 - You're old enough. It's not an adult-only event by any stretch. There's a ton of music and dancing, including lots of pick-up jams in the hallways. I don't know if that's your kind of thing, but it's there. And different workshops and sessions of singing and various folk music and tons of dancing.

2 - It's at the Natick High School. Natick is in the suburbs, so it's easiest to drive there, but since it's hard to park, it's actually probably just as easy to take the commuter rail -- they run shuttles to the train station -- check the website for info on location and transportation.

3 - April 23-25

4 - Oh. My. God. It's the best weekend ever. Seriously. If you like music, dancing, being around music and dancing and people who are all really happy about making music and dancing, you'll love it. I, personally, go primarily for the dancing (not that I don't like the musical events, but dancing is what really gets me going). The website also has a grid with all the different scheduled events, so you can check that to see what sorts of things happen there. But I totally, totally recommend it.

Thanks!!!! It sounds totally like my cup of tea. I think I'll try and get up there with a few people from my school.
