We started the day in Las Vegas and are ending it in Green River, UT, a town that seems to consist of 3 gas stations, 4 fast food joints and 5 motels. This one has free wifi, even! So nice!

We made pretty good time over very hilly country today, and drove through some amazingly gorgeous landscapes. It's been years since I did a long road trip, and this reminds me how driving across the US is a great way to reconnect with how many ways the world has to be breathtakingly beautiful.

The best snapshot moment of today's drive, which we missed the chance to capture on my phone, because we were past it before we'd fully registered what we'd seen, was the car pulled over by a state trooper, presumably for speeding. As we drove by, we saw four people in a line having their photos taken by a fifth; in the line was the trooper, who was obviously being involved in a souvenir photo op.

Now, I think I'll go to bed.

There are a few ranch-style tract houses and at least one irrigation diversion dam in Green River, too. I seen 'em.

That's hilarious, about the cop.

For breakfast, you'll be going to Ben's Cafe and ordering the green chili.

Trust me on this.

gosh... i just realized it has been something like 7 years since the last time I drove cross country (or cross 1/2-country) on a real road trip... I'm so jealous.

I've been trying to make some plans for what to do with my vacation days this year - you now have me thinking that maybe a road trip across part of the Australian interior should be added to the list - but part of what makes a great road trip is great company... hrm

Molly and I were there, on the bike trip. We ate in a restaurant overlooking the (very low) river. Saw an egret in the river, while a hummingbird checked us out in the window. And there were signs everywhere for...some kind of melon or other.
