You seem to me to have the down-to-earth, practical thing down so well that you've even figured when to "eh, fuck it!" and throw those traits out the window temporarily!
When you first moved in I think you were about as "earth" as they come. But over time I feel like you've taken flight more than a little bit, and started carrying more light and magic.
I had to look up "ether" to answer this, to see what its associations are, and it was reading that it was also called "quintessence" that made me think it might be a good fit. I think I also like that in mechanics/science it was used to try to explain things that people didn't understand. I can see you as a force that people understand to somehow, mysteriously, be involved in transmitting energy, especially when they can't quite put their finger on how it all happens. :)
For myself, I think I have to be cognizant of the useful and constructive, as well as horrible and destructive applications of fire. sometimes Yay! and sometimes Ooops. I think I have to own both.
I answered symbolically, since that's what the "four elements" mean to me these days. If the question is which actual STUFF is associated with you in my mind, I'd say air (probably via "big sky").
But wiftily, you make me think of earth and water, and at the moment you're more like the Queen of Discs (watery skills, earthy purpose) than the Page of Cups (earthy skills, watery purpose).
[But my mental shorthand for the latter is 'Pollyanna', so... :)]
Look I did a poll! Well, it was cheesy astrology related, so 'course.
I am water. No doubt there. I think you are very earth. (What are you in fact-- astrology wise?) Some would say that means together we make mud. Perfect. That's what allows all the good to grow in the world. (Insert cheesy grin.)
