Home *is* where the heart is, if not the appendix.
But seriously, if there's one thing that I've learned in the past few years is getting home from the hospital is one of the best things that can happen to a person. So, yay!
Having gone through it, I'd say your fear is neither strange nor irrational. But also, having gone through it, I can also say that it sucks but really mostly turns out okay. I hope you never have to find out firsthand, though!
Yeah, I definitely found that about keeping my body straight at first, but I seem to be healing up pretty quickly, and the bendy movements are achy, but often in a pleasing "stretchy" way, now. This whole healing thing? Pretty goddamn awesome.

Pro-tip: Lying down flat or standing up straight may both feel better, for awhile, than *sitting* up in ways that bend your tummy.
Sounds like you'll have lots of minions and sexy nurses to order around now -- awesome!
