So. I've been coloring the streak in my bangs consistently for about three years, and it's a lot of fun, but I'm toying with the possibility of going back to regular old boring brown. It's kind of interesting to me how big a decision that feels like! Even though it's obviously totally reversible at any time.

Thoughts?

I entirely understand.

Do it and keep it that way a while, and see if the color pops up somewhere else. :)

I'm surprised how hair colour/style, like breast size, is, as [livejournal.com profile] kcatalyst called it, identity categories, even though I'm not consciously aware, myself, of any ideas I have about how people with certain size breasts or certain hair colours/styles are "supposed" to act (wow, did that sentence have enough commas?).

But I know that I definitely feel subtly differently about myself as I traverse the quarters of the year, and I know that long hair vs. short hair makes a big difference to my self-image.

I promise brown hair will not make you boring.

If you feel like colouring it again you'll have a bigger change and more fun that way

I don't think brown is necessarily boring. Or, for that matter, that regular is, or old. Likewise, I'm pretty sure hair isn't what makes anyone regular, old, or boring.
That said, it's kinda neat that returning to natural color would seem like a big decision -- is that about how you feel about yourself or how you present yourself, about how others might see you or interpret how you present yourself, about where you are in your life now or where you want to be...? -- but then, I'd totally believe your hair is capable of growing natural streaks of unnatural colors. =)

If you don't like it, there is a plane leaving every day.

Huh. I love how the streak looks on you so much, it's hard for me to think of you as monocolored. and yet.
