Seriously, this time: 10 things I've done that you may not have

1. Smuggled Cuban cigars into the US.
2. Climbed the two highest peaks in Wyoming (Gannett (13,804') and Grand Teton (13,770'))
3. Learned to swim before I could walk.
4. Flown to a city I'd never been, and where I barely spoke the language, without a hotel reservation in-hand.
5. Kicked a hole in a door.
6. Broken into my own apartment, not through the front door.
7. Had men try to pick me up on the streets of: Boston, Cambridge, San Francisco, Quetzaltenango.
8. Been 100' under water.
9. Woken myself up: singing in my sleep, laughing in my sleep, and sneezing in my sleep.
10. Been valedictorian at my high school graduation, where I gave a speech that everyone said was better than that given by our state's rep to Washington.

[Edit: I'm adding a few because you all are fabulously adventurous!]

1'. Drove from San Francisco to Jackson, WY in one day.
3'. Been present at my grandmother's death.
4'. Panned for (and found) gold.
5'. Broken four bones, all in my hands and wrists, all in separate incidents.
6'. Had the inside of my nose cauterized.
7'. Had a bat mitzvah at which I played piano instead of reading a blessing.
8'. Made over 100 hand-dipped tapers for the wedding of two close friends.
9'. Given a $20 bill to a panhandler.

4,5 and 6, tho I've done 4 many times(I used to fly a huge amount)

[identity profile] keyne.livejournal.com 2005-02-25 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
5 and 6 for me, I think.

I've been 140' under water, off Maui -- and was thrilled to find that my ever-touchy sinuses handled it painlessly.

And I've kicked holes in two doors, but they were both flimsy closet-type doors so they might not count. And I've broken into my own house, though not ever an apartment.

I've never brought back cigars, though. Hmm.

Ok I've broken into my own apt, my own house, and my own dorm room. The last was the hard one being on the third floor. (I've also broken into other people's domiciles for similar reasons.

I've also done 9. I would have had 7 except for the last one.

Cool list.

well, it was only one of them, but i did smuggle in a cuban cigar on our first trip to london. (do i get extra points because i had salmonella in full swing at the time? ;) )

1,2,5,6,7 and 9.

[identity profile] aroraborealis.livejournal.com 2005-02-25 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
Dude. I was NOT expecting someone to have done #2 :)

[identity profile] orangelemon.livejournal.com 2005-02-25 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
no wait, I meant four.

[identity profile] water-childe.livejournal.com 2005-02-25 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
I've done #3, #5, and #8.

[identity profile] txbelladonna.livejournal.com 2005-02-25 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
This list just makes me laugh. And generally be in awe of you

[identity profile] points.livejournal.com 2005-02-25 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
Lesse...
3, 5, 6... you have me beat on 8, but only barely. :)

I'd have 7 if not for that last one! ;)

Did 1', but continued even further.
And 9'.

Whew!

I haven't kicked a hole in a door, but I did once punch through a window. I didn't really mean to, but I guess I managed to hit the one weak spot and it just shattered. Amazingly, I only received minor scratches.

[identity profile] keyne.livejournal.com 2005-02-25 01:44 pm (UTC)(link)
5': I've broken more than four in my feet alone :-) Only one in my hand, though, so I guess I lose on a technicality!

[identity profile] catya.livejournal.com 2005-02-25 02:10 pm (UTC)(link)
1, i participated in but didn't do myself
5, 6

not 3'. yet. :(

[identity profile] razil.livejournal.com 2005-02-25 02:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not going to play 'me too', only comment that (I believe) it is not illegal to bring back cuban cigars if they're for personal use, not commercial distribution - approx the same rules as copying movies and music...

What happened to 2'?

[identity profile] aroraborealis.livejournal.com 2005-02-25 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Re: 2', no one has claimed to have done 2, yet :)

And re: Cuban cigars, I *think* you're wrong, but I don't remember for sure

[identity profile] razil.livejournal.com 2005-02-25 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I see. The Primes are just to replace/supplement those that have already been "called"? It's early yet and I'm not quite here... So now, thanks to Points, do you need a 1'' and a 9''? This could get out of control.

I could very well be wrong on the cuban cigar thing. That's what you get from a nonsmoker. *grin*

Sadly, I've done 6' also. :( Most unpleasant as a child.
