I love it when I buy something at auction and go on to make a bunch of money on it. It's not the money so much as it is the validation of my knowledge about the given piece I purchased.
Getting Stuff Done. Particularly stuff that has taken years to get escape velocity on. (cough*housefixed*cough - 3 years) (cough*happymeat*cough - 4 years) Getting that stuff off my plate is enormously lightening.
Getting something done, particularly something with lots of parts that need coordinating. (See also: this is why I like my job.)
Singing The opportunity to notice a positive impact I've made Choosing to be silly with a kid Discovering that something that used to trigger me is now totally hot Lifting something heavy!
Finishing a project. Most recently, finishing a crochet blanket I'd been working on for over a year. :)
Being asked to help with someone else's project (even when I can't offer help due to time/experience/etc. limitations).
Helping make someone else's day.
Hearing something people like about me. (This is not me fishing, this is factual.)
Which reminds me! Thank you so much for hosting the confessional again this year, Rosa. I didn't participate much, but it was very interesting, though-provoking, conversation-provoking, amusing, and occasionally blush-worthy. ;)
That moment in the morning when the fatigue falls away. Sometimes this comes before I get out of bed, other times--after. Most mornings it does come. :)
I searched online for days for a tomato house that was just what David and I wanted for our garden for this year. No luck.
I went to sleep one night and dreamed about making one. Saw myself from start to finish, putting it together.
I got up, started making notes and came up with a plan. Went to home depot, spent $20 and made a small model version (that will serve as a seed starter house) to see if the idea worked.
It totally worked.
I've invented a collapsible tomato house that will store over winter in a bag roughly the size of a large pillow case, when put up is 4ftx7ftx6ft, and will need no tools to put up and take down (once it's initially put together).
The thought did occur to me, but I too know nothing of patents. Heh. I think what I will wind up doing is finding someone to turn my hand-drawn-on-notebook-paper plans into something better looking, and put them online for others to use and encourage folks to use them to grow heirloom tomatoes and save and share the seeds. Because that would make me feel even more awesome!
Carrying off a gourmet theme meal for 30-40 people. (Especially when they applaud.)
Working my tail off in a volunteer position for nearly a year, having to cut back because of family/household concerns, and then getting a note from the org's president telling me how much she values my work and how honored she'll be to finally meet me.

I invented something in my dreams
