aroraborealis: (tasty)
Now that I'm excited about cooking again, I can type up these recipes.

First, [livejournal.com profile] fennel's excellent tandoori salmon is here. And his delicious sweet potato quesadillas are here.

The very tasty Savory Cheese Galette, from epicurious, is here.

Today, I'm grateful for change. No, not the heavy money that rattles around in my pockets...

Being grateful for change is like being grateful for oxygen: it's largely irrelevant, but what the hell, you might as well appreciate what you both need and have, right?

Change happens all the time, both internally and externally, obviously, but I've been paying a lot of attention to my changes in the last couple of years, and enjoying them an awful lot. I'm a very different person from who I was three years ago, and it's pretty cool to be able to measure that in externally verifiable ways. Even more cool, though, is being able to look inside myself and feel good about the changes I've made deliberately and the ones that are more circumstantial or branching from other roots.

Beyond myself, it's hard not to be excited about some of the changes in our political climate recently. I'm completely psyched that Massachusetts will be having a new governor and I'm looking forward to seeing what the change in Congress can do for us, too.

I'm also excited to see the changes my friends and family make. Whether they're starting or finishing degrees, galavanting off to other countries, or making quiet but profound changes in how they relate to themselves and/or the world, their constant adventuring is both inspiring and comforting (though also often intimidating and destabilizing.

But that's life, and it's one of the great and terrifying things about it. The wave keeps rolling in, and our job is to stay up, stay up just a little longer, and maybe every once in a while, do a trick.
