Why do people think it's fun to be pedantic? Can anyone help me understand this?

It's funny to me how much I enjoy being a "regular" at some establishments. Despite the fact that I'm often itching for change and novelty in, say, restaurants and bars and places I go "out" to, I also truly love having an ongoing relationship with some places. When I lived in Guatemala, for example, I had the one avocado seller who I always went to in the market.
