It looks like snow tomorrow! And I'm mentally gearing myself up for an extra-snowy winter, so I'm thinking about all the things I like about snow and winter. Things like

* cozy gatherings of friends and warm food
* curling up with the cat and a good book or movie while the snow falls
* sledding
* hot cocoa
* that soft, round silence that accompanies a heavy, fluffy snowfall
* snow ice cream
* brilliant, bright, crystalline morning sunlight
* making snow angels

What are some of your favorite things about winter?

Let me count the ways ...

The theme of the past couple of months, in my head, can be pretty nicely summed up through these two quotes:

1. "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans." -John Lennon

2. "How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives." -Annie Dillard

These, of course, are different angles on the same thing.

Just recently, I've added another:

"Will you please start thinking that this is a good time now?" -some guy I met whose name I don't remember

I've decided that the first two are a good foundation and the last is the right rallying cry for the next year or so. Quit planning and start doing.
