Okay, new plan. Thanks to the more level-headed encouragement of spike and moominmolly (and, I now see lj comments from others to this effect), I called Virgin back and did the polite pushy/begging thing that got me a seat on a flight out of JFK Thursday morning, so now I just have to get myself to NYC tomorrow. Hello, Amtrak! *crossing things*
