The drink's name is "Storming the Castle". What's in it and what are the proportions?

Well, let's see. If a "Dark and Stormy" has rum and ginger beer, then it should have rum, since I think that's the "storm" part. So what's "castle"-y? Mead? So let's say mead and dark rum, 2 to 1.

Alternately, D points out that it could be Newcastle, because hey, castle! Same proportions as a Dark and Stormy, but with beer rather than ginger beer.

If the storming of the castle is successful, I think that the invaders are unlikely to pay much attention to what they grab out of the cellar, so I would go to a place that has a large selection of red wines available, and choose the first unfamiliar one that comes to hand.

For the proper experience of the thing, it should probably be drunk straight out of the bottle. :)

A shot of scotch dropped into a pint of Newcastle.

I thought that the rum was the dark part, and the ginger beer was the storm (it's all spicy and that). Though when I saw the title I immediately thought, "mmmmm, rum."

Newcastle makes perfect sense, of course. But now I'm thinking of something like McEwan's, because "castle" means "Scotch" to me. So I'm thinking either Newcastle or McEwan's, mixed one-to-one with ginger beer. Kind of like a shandy.

And maybe a shot of rum anyway, because, mmmmmm, rum.

I second this idea.
