Favorite? I don't know. I'll answer for "naughtiest" though: Fr-Ooze Pops. I bought a case once for a party. There were disturbing TV ads for them. They might still be available, even.

(See also Wired article on EXTREME CANDY!!!)

mass produced non-artisan candy? sour jelly bellys. possibly sad, but true.

(the fancy stuff is harder to narrow down to one choice.)

Cinnamon hearts (http://www.candy4u.com/redhotcinhea.html).

I took a bunch of them with me to Germany, because I had found out it was very hard to get cinnamon candies in Germany. (This was in 1990-I don't know about now.) I ate a bunch on the plane, so when I disembarked, my fingers were read and so were my lips. The host family was quite amused by this.

Carambars! I discovered them at French camp when I was in high school and searched for years after to find them. In the one tabacarie I found in France that had any when I was there in 2003, I bought their entire stock and they were gone by the time I got back to the US. They have cute little jokes in French on the inside of the wrappers.

Of course, now Amazon sells them. I'm doomed.

Skittles. Which must be eaten by lining them up by color, making the numbers even, and then in order by color.

And payday. Which must be eaten by... well, um, just eaten.

Haribo's Happy Colas, The Ginger People's Ginger Chews, and Harbor Sweets' Sweet Sloops are all high on my list of favorites.

I also don't think of, say, truffles as "candy," so the candy that is most often my favorite is probably plain chocolate M&Ms, although I have phases with Starbursts, Skittles, and Caramello bars.

I don't really eat candy (with the occasional exception of dark chocolate truffles), but the thing I recently discovered which is disturbingly close to crack is Trader Joe's dark-chocolate-covered cashews.

Peppermint patties. Junior mints. Anything mint-chocolate in a tiny wrapper, really.

Also, in France: Lion bars. Maybe because they're made with sugar and not corn syrup? Anyway, I haven't found an American candy bar that's as super-tasty-crunchy-chewy-awesome!

I could not possibly choose which chews to choose.

Use to be Snickers bars, and that's still a joy. Lemon Starburst are to die for. Good caramels OMG. Junior mints. Chocolate kisses. Trader Joe's chocolate covered raspberry and orange jellies. The rare almond joy with DARK chocolate. Take 5.

gah. can't pick!

Decisions, decisions - I think right now Trader Joe's Peanut Butter Cups are leading the pack, but caramels and Heath Bars aren't far behind, followed by Sour Patch whatevers.
