Huh...I'm very much an introvert, but I have a strong memory of the 2000 election. It was the second worst date I ever had. :) But we had gone over to [livejournal.com profile] vokzal's to watch, and it got tenser and tenser, and at one point we decided to take a break and go walk around the neighborhood. And we ended up hanging out in Green Party headquarters watching the TV with them when the networks finally said, "Fuck it, it's probably Bush." Awful as that moment was, I remember there was something about being in a room with a lot of people, some of whom I knew, some whom I didn't know, who all understood what a very, very bad thing had just happened. And I think it was important that I didn't know all of them. Because I felt connected to my country, and that could only happen because it wasn't just me and my small coterie of friends. It was a small buoyant aspect of a very, very wrenching evening.
