Plain old margarita - Rudy's. (especially if you like mezcal!)

Super fancy - Casa Romero's Romerita (made with Chartreuse).

Rudy's for a solid execution on the basics.
(for me? Grand Gold, rocks and salt)

I second Casa Romero! Everything they do is magic.

I definitely agree that Rudy's is my favorite place to get a classic margarita (and tequila in general), but if you're looking for a neon-green tequila flavored slushy you may need to go elsewhere.

I really only like the classic version personally. ;-)

I like that it's not Tex-Mex.

What I like about both places is that you can get a REAL margarita: lime juice, tequila, and a "very dry" orange liqueur.

our back porch, of course. But maybe that's the setting as much as the drink ;)

Rudy's has flavorless inauthentic food.

...but their Margarita's rock. You don't have to just order a "classic" either. I remember one that was like a hickory smoked drink due to the smoky tequila they used. I think you can't go wrong with Rudy's.

... unless you order food.

I don't know about "best", but I wouldn't declare a winner in any best-cocktail-in-Boston contest 'til I had tried Eastern Standard's.
