I sometimes don't like practical jokes because they seem kind of mean-spirited (or super mean-spirited), but I like this one because it's a kind of startlement that seems pretty light-hearted to me. Anyway, I have now watched it approximately 10 times and it's still making me giggle:

I find it interesting. I can appreciate the humor because I can see most of the people pranked were laughing and took it good naturedly. I suspect I don't see as much humor in it because I would personally greatly dislike being pranked/surprised like that.

Yes, I know that the fact that I think it would be hilarious to have this happen to me (and in certain my reaction would be just as dramatic as many of these!) makes it easier for me to enjoy.

and yeah, I'm betting they filtered out the people who had bad reactions - it's so hard to predict. I'm not sure how I would have reacted - certainly the loud tearing paper seems designed to add to the startle.
