[livejournal.com profile] trom points out that I should also take recommendations of movies that I should never ever see, even if they're free.

Rocky and Bullwinkle?!
You should watch it if you've never seen it before, but you probably only need one or two episodes to get the gist ;)

Oh. I'm not sure I even knew there *was* a movie apart from the collected cartoons, which we gave my dad for the holidays one year :)

I kinda like The Land Before Time. It's the umpteen sequels which were unnecessary.

Meet the Feebles was made by Peter Jackson. Muppets: with sex, drugs, and vomiting. It's thoroughly distasteful.

Man Bites Dog is about a documentary film crew following a serial killer, until they eventually join in with the raping and mutilating. Also distasteful.

Hmm, movies to avoid. Lessee.

Catwoman
Elektra
Gigli
Garfield

I don't think any of those were on the 'you might have actually gone to see this' aside from Catwoman, but... don't. :)

Interesting. I'd vote the other way on these (mostly DD, but Aliens was okay too). Did you just think Donnie Darko was overhyped, or did you actively dislike it for other reasons?

hm, i disagree with some other folks' choices, i'm afraid. partly through low standards-- rocky and bullwinkle was ok by me, though no patch on the original series, and catwoman and electra were fine if you like cheesy comic book adaptations. donnie darko and aliens are among my favorite movies ever. man bites dog was interesting but probably more interesting than entertaining.

on the other hand, i'd recommend avoiding "dungeons and dragons" and "flaming ears". and i'd put "irma vep" in the same category as "man bites dog".

Flaming Ears is the worst movie I have ever ever ever seen. Leagues worse than Dungeons and Dragons, which was not, in fact, better than a sharp poke in the eye.

John Lennon in How I Won the War. The only movie I recall ever walking out of.
