What's something about you that I don't know or might have forgotten?

When I was just under years old, I had a hernia operation. I still have an ittybitty scar, but it's hard to find amidst all the hair. Still trying to come up with something witty about what I was trying to lift when this happened.

I had forgotten that!

You've had a long time to come up with a good story for it, though. Maybe you should hire a ghostwriter ;)

There's so much you've never known about me, I don't know where to start!

You could give us a suggested topic, for guidance?

I'm really interested in what people come up with without guidance. That said, how 'bout something that makes you laugh?

1) Despite being a near-endless font of amusing anecdotes and pithy self-analysis when in an interactive mode, I consistently freeze up in the face of open-ended queries like this one, primarily because my internal censor looks at all proposed replies and quashes them with that "What? What makes you think THAT'S interesting enough to bother anyone with?" before they quite make it up to consciousness.

2) My default answer to this question is "I have an _excellent_ evil laugh." Which I do.

I am embarassed to say that the cheese ball ( me) who was raised by a sappy patriotic mother ( used to be republican in the Reagan years) loves Lee Greenwood's, "Proud to be an American". I am a BIG fan of cheesy campy things like "Knowing me, KNowing you" or " The Winner Takes it All" by Abba. I hope you and your readers can still be my friend even though I have shared this. Barry Manilow RULES!:)

I'll try for two things:
* I had an emergency tracheostomy when I was 2 1/2
* I had three different reputations at college: a math/science geek, a lighting designer/theater person, and a steam tunnel explorer/hacker (way more rare at Chicago than other places we both know).

akin to zzbottom's comment...

i still hold the record for flex arm hang at my elementary school, over 16 years later.
they made me come down after like a minute and a half, as i'd already far surpassed the time required for an A. i could have stayed up for several more minutes.

Well, once upon a time, many moons ago, I lived in Cambridge. (Knew that, huh? OK, I'll keep going.) For the last three years of my time in Cambridge, I took voice lessons with a teacher affiliated with Boston Conservatory, primarily focusing on Mozart, Handel, and Sondheim (eclectic, huh? I'm a dark soprano/mezzo-soprano, in case you were wondering). I also vocal directed 2 G&S shows at MIT.

Well, you didn't know that, I don't think, even if it is pretty boring.

I have stigmata!

Well, one.

I stuck a pencil into the very center of my palm one day in Hebrew school, accidentally. I had been driven by boredom to slowly tapping it there, though, so it was kind of my fault. Anyway, the dot is still there.

I lived in Cambridge, England for a year when I was nine and ten. It was my first experience of living in a small city (rather than the suburbs) and I absolutely loved that aspect of it. (I walked everywhere, which I thought was the best thing ever, and there were all sorts of wonderful shops and interesting things to see. It felt almost magical and was very formative, really.) I concluded then that I would live in a smallish city when I grew up.
