Mar. 17th, 2006 10:39 pmI love work travel. I really do. I don't know why, exactly, other than that I have a certain strange fondness for the anonymous blandness of hotel rooms, and it's hard for me not to think that travel is awesome, even if it takes me somewhere boring. And when someone else is paying for it? Woohoo!
Even so, I'm glad this week is over, and though I was wishing, before dinner, that I was home, I am now, after dinner, glad that I stayed to have what turned out to be a really fantastic dinner at Zaytinya with
dragoncrunchies,
nminusone,
geekchick, and
tikva (plus Brodie, who is, I must say, a toe-curlingly cute dog). (Yes, I'm lj-name dropping. I hate it when I do that, but I can't help myself.) The food was fantastic, and the space was awfully nice, too. I'd go back there again, no question.
After dinner, we were friendly-ly accosted by a homeless man who asked us each to name a country, and he then rattled off a few facts about each one -- after a few rounds, I was both impressed by his knowledge of trivial facts about, it seemed, every country in the world (certainly the ones we named, even the obscure and weird ones) and bored of standing around on the street trying to decipher his accent. At any rate, it was kind of cool, and more fun than the average request for spare change, and I was happy to give him a couple of bucks.
Thanks y'all for showing up and helping me celebrate the end of the week!
If I'm ambitious, I'll get up early and stroll the mall in the morning, but my money's on sleeping in.
