aroraborealis1. How many houses/apartments have you lived in throughout your life?
1 house, where my parents still live
4 dorm rooms (although two of them on two separate occassions, so if I'd ended up in different ones, it would have been 6)
3 apartments
2. Which was your favorite and why?
I don't really think I've had a favorite, as I've had good experiences in all of them. My LEAST favorite was my last apartment, in Porter Square, which, while an unbelievably good location, was a kinda dumpy, dark place with roommates who weren't really interested in spiffing it up. I do miss the location, though!
3. Do you find moving exciting or stressful? Why?
I hate moving. It's the packing and worrying about where I'll be next that I don't like. Trying to find a new apartment is stressful and time-consuming, especially when you try to go the no-realtor, join-an-established-apartment route. Once I know where I'm going, the packing is unpleasant, stressful, dusty, and time-consuming. Then you get to lug all your boxes and furniture to the new place! Also not my favorite thing. However, once in the new place, I love unpacking and making it my home, so once all the bad stuff is out of the way, I really enjoy it :)
4. What's more important: location or price?
The perfect combination of the two! I obviously need a place I can afford, which can be challenging in the Boston area, but I also don't own a car (and don't want to), so having a location that works for me is key, too.
5. What features does your dream house have?
Entirely self-powered, with solar panels, good insulation, composting toilets and grey-water recycling where appropriate. (Hey, a girl can dream.) Lots of windows, an open floor plan, a beautiful kitchen and a sauna and hottub.
