I walk funny
Sep. 10th, 2002 01:09 pmA few days ago, I noticed, as I was walking down the ridiculously long hallway in my new apartment, that I'm a very stompy walker. My heels were making a big noise as I walked, and it resonated in the hardwood floor and against the walls. I noticed this because a former roommate used to get startled every time I walked into the room because I was so quiet. Hm.
Later, I was walking down the hallway again, this time wearing shoes, and wouldn't you know it? My feet were making very little noise. It's counterintuitive to me that I would make less noise in shoes than in bare feet.
I brought this up with Mack, who agreed it's counterintuitive, but also commented that he thinks of me as gliding around the office, rather than walking, which was a nice image. :)
So I'm trying to figure out why I'm stompier in bare feet than in shoes, and once I've done that, I can be quiet both ways :
