Okay, I have an insurance plan that will cover me through my return from Guatemala, even if I don't end up getting laid off (which is looking like the probable outcome right now). I'm exploring short term insurance options for the time of my return through whenever I get a job with benefits, but having the bulk of the time under control feels really good!

Does anyone know anything about short term insurance?

I had short term insurance many years ago. I picked it up because my cobra had run out and my job was still temp, though they kept claiming I would get hired. It was for 6 months, some flat fee like maybe 250-300 dollars, and was really only good for medical emergencies (something catastrophic). I don't remember what insurance company it was with. You could do a google search and see what comes up.
