On the bright side, I'm making noticeable progress in my recovery every day. A major turning point was last Thursday when I had my followup with my surgeon and he removed the staples from my incisions, which made me much more comfortable, both physically and psychologically. Friday, I woke up feeling like myself for the first time since falling ill. It was great, and well-timed. I'm moving increasingly easily and increasing my range of motion in my torso in nice ways. I'm also back to not needing to nap every day. This is great.

On the down side, I'm still enough in recovery that the progress is notable every day. I'm looking forward to when it's not quite so remarkable day to day. I'm also looking forward to being able to stretch comfortably without feeling like it's pulling in weird, hidden places, and generally forgetting about the whole thing.

Let's hear it for laparoscopic surgery, though. This whole process would be extended by a factor of 3 or 4 without it, and I'm incredibly grateful that it was an option available to me.

It's wonderful that you're recovering so quickly. I hope your body forgets the surgery entirely, soonest.

Laproscopic is MUCH better!
My Appendix came out the hard way... I was in the hospital for 3 days and it was a long recovery. The gaul bladder came out laproscopic, and while not fun, it was no where NEAR as traumatic!

So three cheers for medical advances!
Sending healing thoughts!

I was in the hospital for 4 (they did mine the old-fashioned way, since this was 1986 or thereabouts) and couldn't roll over for two weeks. I'm betting laparoscopy is a LOT more fun :)

I momentarily read this as meaning you had 4 appendices out! Thank goodness they don't actually work like wisdom teeth...

I was right about the pliers though, wasn't I?

You were, but I felt better having a professional decide that it was the right time to take them out, anyway. Totally worth the $15 copay for peace of mind :)

My scale is admittedly a little off in these matters. I left the hospital the day after my surgery, because the made the mistake of telling me that when I was well enough to walk out my own, I was well enough to leave.

I'm glad you're recovering.
And it was nice to finally introduce myself in person to you
the other night. I hope people enjoyed the cake!

Yay recovery! Boo slowness, but yeah, thank goodness for laparoscopy (which I've apparently been spelling wrong). May you soon be to the point where you can easily forget for days at a time this whole appendicidal happening.
