Talking to the television is weird, but yelling at it is perfectly normal.

In both of those cases I'm using the other thing as a focus for expressing what I'm thinking. So neither of them is weird for me.

the distribution there is curious; at the moment, 97% (38/39) of people who rate TV-talking as no weirder than pet-talking think it's about the same, but only 54% (38/70) of the people who rate pet-talking as no weirder than TV-talking think it's about the same.
