Is there a name for those websites like Overheard in NY or F My Life that collect little stories from the world for everyone's entertainment?

Anyway, whatever they are, I have a new favorite one, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] kcatalyst, who introduced me to It Made My Day. It's almost exactly like FML, but with a cheerful spin.

I have no idea, but am sure someone must have a name for that flavor of website.

More importantly - thank you! That totally make my day. :)

A. and I call these overheard bits Rittenhouse Squares, because we used to get the best ones while walking through a little park here of that name. It's kind of a good name for us, because when one of us is actively eavesdropping or has just eavesdropped but cannot tell the other what happened yet due to continued proximity to the eavesdroppee, we can mention Rittenhouse Square without anyone being the wiser and the other person knows what's going on and that something good is in the offing.

But perhaps you weren't asking about a name only used by two people out of N bajillion, but rather whether there's a generally accepted kind of name.

Yes, that kind of site does need a name. I gave up on Overheard in NY because it was a deluge. I've been into Not Always Right and to balance that out, Gives me Hope. The latter gets very cheesy at times. Perhaps I'll try out IMMD as an alt.

Thank you for the link! I like these but all the ones I'd been reading were depressing. IMMD & GMH are wonderful.
