Mac geeks:

Will Jaguar die or otherwise start misbehaving if I uninstall OS 9 from my ibook?

You won't be able to use Classic environment, but that should be it.

I don't think I have any 9 on my machine at all. At least, the last 2 times I re-installed I didn't bother putting it on, if it was there at all.

*probably* not

Jaguar won't care, actually.

But if you're really that tight on space, you've got troubles coming.

Jaguar wants to have at least 150MB of free-space while things are running, or you may suddenly find that some apps lose their preference settings, or unexpectedly quit, or...

Depending on what apps you're running, and what you're doing with them, you may be best served by keeping a *lot* more space free (up to a full GB, in fact)...

We have some notebook HDs floating around, at least one of which should be larger than what you've got in there. Swapping disks is a fairly simple process, but takes at least a few hours. I can definitely do it for you while you're in Guat, if you're leaving your Book here... If you're taking it with you, it might need to wait until after your return, as I'm thoroughly swamped....

Of course, you could also choose to put some chunk of stuff onto CDs, DVDs, or external HDs, too... I can help with this, too, if you like.
