The only thing that works on my own hiccups is sustained and repeated swallowing of liquid - IE a nice, big glass of water which I would preferably chug right down without taking a breath. Fewer than ten gulps doesn't always do it and then I have to drink another ridiculous amount of water.
It is particularly fun, and by fun I mean "augh" when this happens right before I should be going to sleep.
