Thanksgiving week is upon us again, and as it has in years past, it brings me to contemplate the rich variety of blessings in my life. Though there are many more than fit in a week of posts, I'll celebrate each day this week with thanks and appreciation for some of those blessings. I invite anyone who cares to to join me.
Last year at this time, I was feeling pretty bleak. I had just decided I needed to leave the job that was sucking the color out of my days and that left me miserable not only when I was at work, but anytime I was thinking about work ... which was a lot of the time. I was feeling incompetent and lackluster and pointless.
So, this year, I start my week of thanks with profound gratitude for my new job. It sort of fell in my lap out of the blue, the way blessings so often do, and it is more fun than I've had in a professional setting than ever. I have an outstanding boss, engaging colleagues, interesting challenges, and a big budget. I have a lot of independence and no isolation. I'm appreciated, trusted, and valued. And it's wicked fun.
I know enough to know things change, and to enjoy the fuck out of this while I can. And I'm incredibly grateful for it.
